HGU was founded in Hamburg, Germany in 1995 and conducts its activities as an AG (= Aktiengesellschaft, comparable to Inc.) since 1999. HGU Hamburger Unternehmensbeteiligungs AG can be translated as HGU Hamburg Private Equity AG. The shareholder is Constantin von zur Mühlen who also compose the board of director. HGU AG is a member of Bundesverband Deutscher Kapi­talbeteili­gungs­gesellschaften (German Venture Capital Association) e. V. (BVK), Bundesverband mittelständischer Wirtschaft (BVMW) as well as care investor during the early phase financing of the Technologie-Beteiligungs-Gesellschaft mbH der Deutschen Ausgleichsbank (tbg).
